A Little Peek at Rattan Furniture for Screen Porch

Hi Again:

Here is a sneak peak at my rattan furniture for my new screen porch.  My mother sold this to me and it was a great deal!  She barely used this at all so it was in excellent shape.  The set includes a large type sofa and loveseat and it is very comfortable.

I will be changing the fabric on cushions as they will not match my decor.  I am still pondering if I will repaint the rattan.  Hhmmmm.....

Since my mother lives in Pennsylvania, I had to have this shipped to me in South Carolina.  I used an online carrier service called  here.  Basically it is an online shipping company that  bids on your order.  My husband has used it before for his motorcycle.  I was very pleased with their services and would definitely use them again when needed.

I really like the fancy scroll on the legs

Excuse the mess, I am moving!
Enjoy your day!

Loving Driftwood.........

Hello Everyone:

Don't you just love the look of driftwood?  I wanted to share some of my driftwood collection with all of you.   Since moving to South Carolina, I have been combing the beaches nearby to start my collection.  Some of my favorite places to find it is on Tybee Island and Hilton Head.  When I am jogging, I am usually looking for spots where the high tide deposits my treasures.  I also see other people looking for it also so I do have some competition!

Recently I have seen many different uses for driftwood.  While shopping in Beaufort and Savannah, I have seen furniture, ornaments, candles, benches, lamps and frames.

I have just added my collection to a vintage plant holder.  By leaving this piece outside it has weathered to a rusty patina which I just love!!

Do you have anything in your home that is made from driftwood?

Have a wonderful weekend!

~ Pretty Posies in the Home/Bistro Chair

I just love having flowers in my home, how about you?  This spring, I want to grow a cutting flower garden.  This way, I won't have to buy them at the florist, I can just go to my back year and cut them right away.

The bistro chair was a great bargain at $35.00 from Lady's Island, SC. I just love the turquoise color.

So here is my bouquet that I purchased at a local store and placed them in a enamel pitcher.   I love the color and the different varieties.  One of my favorite is the green stem flower called Bells of Ireland.

What is your favorite bouquet?  I also love hydrangeas, lilly of the valley, sunflowers and peonies.

Close up, I love the Bells of Ireland (green stems)

Have a wonderful day!

Coffee Table Craze

Well the time is almost here! Been very busy packing, taping, and cleaning.

Over the weekend, I sold my dining room and eight ladder back chairs though Craigslist.  It now has a new home in Georgia!  Just one less thing to move!

Now onto decorating for living room--- Lately I have been on the lookout for a coffee table to go with my PB sofa that I recently ordered.  There are so many wonderful ones out there so I just need to narrow down my decision.  Hoping to head to Savannah to browse for ideas this week.

Here are some images that I found on Pinterest.  I just love Pinterest, how about you?  I don't know about you but I could spend a considerable amount of time on it, could you?

Well back to work!  Have a lovely day!

Loving the Chippy and Green Look

I just love the chippy look and color of this rattan settee.  I bought this at a vintage shop back in West Chester, PA for approximately $40.00.  Good deal, right?  I think so.

Once I am situated in my new home, I am thinking about having my mother make me a new seat cushion....(however, I am still going to keep this one, it reminds me of England with the vintage roses). Perhaps I will use this piece in one of my spare bedrooms.....I think I am going to keep the same color green, your thoughts?  Also will be checking Etsy for some cute pillows to decorate it with.  Will be sharing the chair that matches  in another post.

I love the floral vintage cushion!!!

Coffee Cake Time

I have to say I even baked after the holidays since my son was home from college break.   Here is one of my favorite coffee cake recipes that I had tried while visiting my sister and family in Oregon.  In the past, I have had different coffee cakes remembering them as very dry... This version is more moist than others.  This is definitely a keeper!

Ingredients:

Filling:
3/4 cup dark brown sugar
1 tablespoon cinnamon
1 tablespoon cocoa
3 tablespoons currants or finely chopped raisins (I skipped this step)
1 cup toasted walnuts

Batter:
3 cups sifted all-purpose flour
1-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1-1/2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
3/4 cup butter, room temperature
2 teaspoons vanilla
1-1/2 cups granulated sugar
3 large eggs, room temperature
2 cups sour cream, room temperature

 Directions:

1)  Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Butter a 10-inch Bundt pan. Set aside.
2) To make the filling: Combine brown sugar, cinnamon and cocoa in a small bowl. Mix thoroughly. Stir in nuts and currants or raisins. Set aside.
3) To make batter: Sift flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt into a large bowl. Cream butter in bowl of an electric stand mixer, using paddle attachment. Add vanilla and sugar and beat on medium speed for a minute or two. Add eggs, one at a time, beating each until just incorporated. Scrape sides of bowl, as necessary, to keep mixture smooth. Beat at high speed until mixture is light and creamy, about 1 minute. Turn mixer to low speed. Add dry ingredients in three additions and sour cream in two additions, beating only until smooth after each addition.
4) Spread a thin layer of batter in bottom of prepared pan. This will be easier to do if you use a small spoon to drop batter into pan and then smooth it together. Top with 1/3 of nut mixture. Repeat until you have 4 layers of batter and three layers of nut filling. The top layer will be batter. Bake 50 to 60 minutes, or until cake tester inserted in center of cake comes out clean. Remove from oven and cool for 5 minutes.

Now enjoy a slice with a cup of coffee!

Kelly's Irresistible Bran Muffins

Hi Friends:

This morning, I was craving for some bran muffins....So I went to my pantry and decided to make my favorite ones.  These are so delicious, you can't just have one....Below is the recipe:

Bran Muffins:

In a large mix bowl, beat 4 eggs along with 2 cups sugar.  Add 1 cup canola oil, mix well.  In separate bowl, mix 5 cups flour, 1 teas. salt, 5 teas. baking soda.  Mix well.  Slowly add the flour mixture into the egg mixture.  Blend in 1 (15 oz. Raisin Bran Cereal) along with 1 quart of buttermilk.  Stir until well mixed.

Add to muffin tins and bake at 400 degrees for 10-12 minutes.  These are good warm or at room temperature.  Recipe recommends serving with apple butter but I eat my plain and they are yummy!!!
Store batter into sealed containers for up to six weeks.
Enjoy~~

Voila!
